SAP DB under GNU GPL
SAP DB is available as Open Source software. Therefore, no special authorization or payment is required
if you want to distribute SAP DB or parts of it.
The SAP DB database kernel is subject to the GNU General Public License.
If SAP DB is part of your software distribution, you must also provide access to the SAP DB sources.
- If you provide SAP DB on CD-ROM, the SAP DB source code must be included.
- If you provide SAP DB as a software download, you must link to the sources.
Note:
Link to a copy of the SAP DB sources on your
own server and not to the original server of the SAP DB software, because server name,
file names, etc. might change.
The SAP DB programming interfaces are subject to the GNU Lesser General Public License.
This means
- You can link them to your own software without your software being Open Source.
- You can also distribute the binaries.
The SAP DB clients are subject to the GNU Lesser General Public License.
This means
- You can integrate the clients' functionality into your own software without
this software necessarily being Open Source.
- You can also distribute the binaries.
